Privacy

What eWire News collects, in plain language. The short version: very little.

What the site collects

  • Newsletter signups. Subscribing to The Current stores the email address entered, the list subscribed to, and consent metadata such as the date of signup. That is the whole record.
  • Analytics. When analytics is enabled, the site uses Google Analytics 4 to measure aggregate readership: pages viewed, approximate location, and device type. The cookies involved are listed on the cookies page.
  • Preferences on this device. A theme choice and the dismissal of the newsletter prompt are stored in the browser's localStorage. They never leave the device.

What the site does not do

eWire News does not sell personal information, does not run advertising, and does not build reader profiles. Reading the site requires no account and no personal information.

Unsubscribing

Every edition of The Current includes a one-click unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect immediately. Unsubscribed addresses are kept on a suppression list only so they are not emailed again.

Questions
