Analytics cookies

When analytics is enabled, Google Analytics 4 sets its standard _ga cookies to distinguish visits in aggregate readership counts. When analytics is not enabled, the site sets no cookies at all.

Advertising cookies

None. eWire News runs no advertising and sets no advertising or tracking cookies of any kind.

localStorage

Two preferences are stored in the browser's localStorage. They stay on the device and are never transmitted.

ewire.theme holds a light or dark theme choice, when one has been made with the toggle in the footer.
ewire.capture.dismissed-at records when the newsletter prompt was dismissed, so it stays dismissed.

Managing them

All of the above can be cleared through the browser's site data settings at any time. The site works fully with cookies blocked. What the analytics data covers is described on the privacy page.
